I know people who are signing up for travel dating sites, schmoozing at travel conventions, and stalking airline employees. Travel is an addiction and getting that fix is a huge part of our life.
In my search to increase my travel mileage, I’ve delved into the law of attraction.
For easier understanding, I’ve explained it to others as the law of positive thinking. The more positive thoughts you have about what you want, the more you will attract wants into your life.
It works for anyone – no previous training, secret society membership or financial investment required.
How Does It Work?
Here’s the fun part about the law of attraction. It involves the childhood, feel-good pass time of make believe. This part is very important. You think of that thing you want really badly. Imagine that you have it and allow yourself to really feel yourself in that situation. I have been imagining my dream trip to Bora Bora and accepting that the trip will happen.
I imagine myself walking on the beach with sand beneath my toes. I feel the sun’s rays shining on my skin. I’m ecstatic and energized by the freedom of enjoying my trip. And I bathe in the good feelings of my imagination.
It feels so spectacular to live out my wants that I end these sessions tingling and rejuvenated.
What’s the catch? There isn’t a catch, but there are some rules that will increase your chances of success.
- Think about having what you want. NOT what you don’t want. For example: If you want your friend to travel with you, don’t reflect on the 10 times she has turned you down. Think only of her saying “yes” and the adventure that comes next.
- Ask yourself why you want these things and allow yourself to dig into the feelings behind your wants. Ask why at least five times. For example: Why do you want your friend to travel? Because she’s fun to hang around? Why is she fun to hang with? Because she makes me laugh. Why does she make you laugh? Because she seems to know what I’m thinking and she can pick the right words to lighten up any situation. Asking yourself why digs into the feelings behind why you want something, and feeling your want is important to attracting it.
- Don’t worry. Worrying creates negative emotions that keep your dreams at a distance.
The great thing about practicing the law of attraction is that you can think positive thoughts whenever and wherever you want. No need to wait for a quiet room or somewhere secluded.
What’s the Worse That Could Happen
It’s easy to be skeptical about these sorts of things. You think – if it were this darn easy to get all the travel I want, then why isn’t everyone doing it?
I can’t speak for everyone.
But, I’ve just started practicing the law of attraction and I’ve noticed small wins in seeing my wants come true. Don’t get me wrong, I am not living my dream travel life – yet. But, I dream of it daily and accept that it will happen.
But, let’s just say that making things happen is bogus. What if our destiny’s are written for us and there is no way to change that.
Would it be wrong to continuously focus on what you want?
Focusing on your desired results is useful when setting and achieving goals. It motivates people to continue striving for big dreams.
Plus, it’s downright fun to imagine that your life is exactly how you want it to be – especially if you believe that it will happen.
Would you like to go deeper into the wormhole?
Some people who seem to have it all – like my idol Oprah Winfrey – has endorsed the law of attraction on several occasions. I can feel the day when I will sit on Oprah’s chair and laugh with her about how splendid the law of attraction is. Until then, I’ll stay positive, keep imagining and enjoy the little things that I’ve attracted. What will you start attracting?
