One of the best reasons to join a travel community is the continuous wanderlust provided by fellow travelers.

I’m constantly amazed by the beautiful, jaw-dropping places on this planet, and each day I take a journey among the photos, videos, and stories of others. There is no shortage of spectacular places to choose from and even with this endless variety, one country stands out from among the others: Norway.

Here are the top five reasons this spectacular country tops my travel wish list.

1. Extraordinary Experiences

The best souvenirs are the memories taken home with you, and Norway has experiences unlike anywhere else in the world.

What would you do with 24 hours of sunlight?

During the summer, Norway has weeks of endless sun allowing you to do more all day long! If you’re hoping for a nighttime light show, Norway is also a perfect place to see the Northern lights. This cool astral display regularly makes an appearance in Norway offering visitors a front row seat to a bucket-list worthy phenomenon.

In my daydreams, I’ve taken a dozen trips to Norway and I can’t wait to see these marvels in person.

2. Breathtaking Landscapes

If you live to capture remarkable, Instagram-worthy photos, you will fall in love with the gorgeous Norwegian scenery. Lush green forests, pristine waterside villages, and towering mountains await.

Daredevils, try your luck with Trolltunga and Kjeragbolten. These landmarks stand out as the most jaw-dropping places to snap a photo that will get a million likes.

If you’re in the right place at the right time, you might even find Norwegian wildlife posing for your photos. Polar bears and reindeer inhibit the wild spaces of this country.

3. Remarkable History

When you come from a younger country like the United States, it’s mind-blowing to experience a city with a one-thousand-year history. In Norway, you’ll find such a city.

Trondheim is almost as old as Norway itself and has fun attractions to keep you busy all day. Check out Nidaros Cathedral and the Kristiansen Fortress for a quick journey back in time.

In Oslo, you’ll find even more historic places to visit such as Medieval Oslo and the St. Olav’s Monastery. Don’t think twice about a visit. These locations are breathtaking and exciting, even if you aren’t a history buff!

4. Upbeat Culture

Studies show that extended time in nature boosts one’s sense of well-being and improves happiness. Considering this, it’s no wonder that Norwegians are among the happiest people in the world.

Boasting over 240,000 islands and coastlines stretching over 64,000 miles, Norway has a lion’s share of places to explore. If you’re exploring this country and spending hours outdoors, you can expect a similar boost in happiness!

Solo travelers can rest assured that a trip to Norway will be a walk in the park – a well lit and safe park. Crime is really low in this country so you can enjoy a carefree trip and your mom can rest easy.

5. Downsizing

It might seem cheesy, but those magnificent scenes from the movie Downsizing were the icing on the cake. I know I’m not the only one who gets a kick out of visiting movie scenes, and I’m so eager to experience those gorgeous Norwegian views in person. Thankfully, I don’t have to shrink myself to do it!

I’m most excited that Norway offers so many options to create a trip that reflects my travel style. With so many fun places to visit and activities to try, I have endless possibilities to create the perfect trip.

I think I’ll put seeing polar bears at the top of my list, along with camping on some secluded and scenic island.

What activities would you look forward to on your trip to Norway?
